Striking workers turned down the latest offer from Boeing on Monday after the manufacturer proposed a 35 percent pay rise over four years.

64 percent of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers’ membership rejected the fresh deal from Boeing, continuing the walkout which began on 13th September.

“After 10 years of sacrifices, we still have ground to make up, and we’re hopeful to do so by resuming negotiations promptly,” IAM announced in a statement. “This is workplace democracy – and also clear evidence that there are consequences when a company mistreats its workers year after year.”

This was the second time workers have formally rejected a deal by Boeing, with the union having previously stated it’s seeking a 40 percent pay rise over four years.
