SEKO Logistics is continuing its global expansion by opening its second largest operation in Europe, located in Amsterdam’s Schiphol Logistics Park.
The facility doubles the size of SEKO’s previous locations in Amsterdam and brings its entire service under one roof for customers using SEKO’s cross-border e-commerce, omni-channel and international transportation fulfilment solutions.
The Amsterdam operation provides a further distribution channel into Europe for US retailers and will help to spearhead the development of the company’s Final Mile and White Glove services across the continent.
SEKO Logistics manager director for Benelux & Germany, Bob van der Putten says: “We needed this expansion to keep pace with our growth in the Netherlands, which is being driven by demand for our eCommerce fulfilment, Omni-Channel and cross-border expertise.
“Given Amsterdam’s importance at one of world’s leading logistics gateways, it is also the right location to lead the planned development of our Final Mile and White Glove services in Europe, using the experience we have already gained in the U.S, market.”
He adds that the expansion puts SEKO on track to achieve record growth in the Netherlands in 2018.
The investment increases SEKO’s ability to handle fulfilment for multiple wholesale, retail and e-commerce channels including reverse logistics and returns.
Value added services will include quality control checking, labelling, re-packing, adding and removing price tags, kitting and light assembly, and the SEKO also operates cross-dock operations for various customers in Amsterdam.
The bigger location will also support SEKO’s growth across its core industry verticals of aerospace, automotive, energy, government, industrial, medical, retail, technology and tradeshow and events.
The building is equipped with eight dock doors and two regular doors for collection and deliveries, and it has a capacity of 5,500 pallet positions and provides over 6,500 storage locations for individual stock units.
It also incorporates a 10,000 square foot high value storage case and a segregated area for dangerous goods shipments.
