First quarter cargo traffic grows 8.9% at Dubai World Central

Cargo traffic at Dubai World Central (DWC) grew by 8.9 per cent in the first quarter of 2018.

Airport operator Dubai Airports says DWC increased to 229,831 tonnes, compared to the first quarter of 2017, when it handled 211,144 tonnes.

DWC is home to 20 scheduled cargo operators flying to 68 destinations around the world, as well as 15 passenger carriers operating an average of 153 flights per week.

Over at neighbouring Dubai International Airport, cargo tonnage in the first quarter was down 3.2 per cent to 615,853 tonnes, and fell 5.7 per cent in March to 222,045 tonnes.
