Peter Barry departs PIK after leading cargo transformation

  • Peter Barry, who recently served as Vice President of Business Development at Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK), is seeking a new opportunity after three years in the role.
  • During his tenure, Barry played a pivotal role in transforming the airport’s cargo operations, including the launch of scheduled e-commerce freighter services from China.

Peter Barry has announced his departure from Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK), where he most recently served as Vice President of Business Development with a strong focus on cargo.

During his three-year tenure, Barry played a pivotal role in transforming the airport’s cargo proposition. One of the most notable achievements under his leadership was the successful launch of scheduled e-commerce freighter services from China. This development marked a significant milestone for the Scottish gateway and positioned it firmly on the international air cargo map.

The introduction of these scheduled services laid the groundwork for establishing a certified cool chain facility at Prestwick. This strategic move enabled the first-ever direct scheduled air cargo exports of Scottish salmon, seafood, and pharmaceutical products to China—highlighting Barry’s impact on unlocking new trade corridors for Scotland’s perishable and high-value goods.

Barry is now seeking his next opportunity, ideally within the aviation, airline, airport, or logistics sectors, and is open to commercial, business development, or customer-focused roles.
