Norwegian has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, leased from MG Aviation.

The airline already has eight 787-8s and will use the 787-9 on routes across North America, South America and South East Asia. Boeing says the 787-9’s fuselage is six metres longer than the 787-8, providing more cargo capacity with 20 per cent less fuel use and 20 per cent fewer emissions than similar sized aircraft.

Norwegian chief executive officer, Bjorn Kjos says: “The 787-9 Dreamliner will provide Norwegian with unrivalled operational advantages, large improvements in fuel efficiency and much lower costs.”

Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president European sales, Monty Oliver says: “We are honoured to deliver the first 787-9 to our partners at Norwegian and MG Aviation – two companies that clearly understand the value proposition of the 787. This airplane is a great addition to any carriers fleet, offering superior passenger comfort, increased cargo capacity and lower operating costs.”
