Lufthansa to launch Frankfurt to San Jose services

Lufthansa is to start flying to San Jose (US) five times a week from Frankfurt (Germany) using an Airbus A340-300 from 29 April 2016.

The service, flight number LH488, will leave Frankfurt Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 10.40h and arrive at San Jose International Airport at 13.40h. The return flight, number LH489, will depart San Jose at 15.20h and arrive in Frankfurt at 11.35h the next day. The flights will take about 12 hours and will be a distance of 4,931 nautical miles.

Lufthansa says the flight will be the first non-stop service to San Jose from the European continent. The San Jose region in California is home to 3.3 million people as well as a number of high-tech start-up companies and corporations. The region is also home to a number of biotech, pharmaceutical and medical companies as well as car manufacturer research labs.
