American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines and United Airlines have been selected to provide daytime services to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport by the US Department of Transportation later this year.

The airlines are seeking five flights per day to Tokyo, operating a daytime schedule. They are proposing linking the US cities of Los Angeles, Honolulu, San Francisco and Minneapolis, of which the first three already have services to Haneda at night.

Under the agreement, carriers may arrive and depart Haneda during daytime hours, including the Minneapolis service.

US Transportation Secretary, Anthony Foxx says: “The availability of daytime access to Tokyo’s centrally located Haneda Airport will create more choice and convenience for both business and leisure travelers, and advances the Department’s work to increase competition and bring enhanced service options to the marketplace.”
