Cargolux strengthens pharma product with va-Q-tec container deal

Cargolux Airlines International has strengthened its CV Pharma product by signing a global rental agreement to use va-Q-tec advanced passive containers.

It says the va-Q-tec thermal containers enable enhanced cool chain transportation without temperature deviation from production site to consignee. Cargolux started flying to Aguadilla in Puerto Rico last month mainly to cater for the pharma industry, and the Luxembourg-based airline says the va-Q-tec containers are ideally suited for these operations.

Cargolux director global logistics services, Franco Nanna says: “With the intuitive va-Q-tec passive solutions, Cargolux has the most appropriate and proven shipping tool for temperature sensitive healthcare products. At the same time, it enables quick and simple rental through Cargolux’s centralised and dedicated ULD team, thus taking away a known burden from our customers.”

Cargolux global product manager for healthcare & perishable, Stavros Evangelakakis adds: “We are very happy to add va-Q-tec to our service offerings especially on our Puerto Rico cool chain flights. We are equally happy to welcome the first customers who support the new service from Puerto Rico to Europe and who will greatly benefit from our endorsement of va-Q-tec.”

Va-Q-tec managing director, Dominic Hyde adds: “Cargolux has deep know-how in handling temperature-sensitive and valuable cargo. The partnership with Cargolux gives our customers what they have been asking for: the possibility to book flight and the va-Q-tainer Serviced Rental in one go to over 90 Cargolux destinations within a one-way rental service.”
