DHL will resume global shipments from businesses to American consumers worth more than $800 after a “constructive dialogue” with US authorities.
“As we previously communicated, shipments from all countries with a value over USD 800 required formal entry processing into the U.S. This regulatory change caused a significant increase in formal customs clearances, and DHL implemented the temporary suspension to ensure we could maintain our high service quality commitment for our customers. B2C shipments with declarable customs value below USD 800 and business-to-business (B2B) shipments were not affected by the suspension,” says in DHL statement.
“We are pleased to inform you that effective April 28th, 2025, the temporary suspension has been withdrawn and DHL Express has resumed the transport of B2C shipments addressed to private individuals in the U.S. where the declared value exceeded USD 800.”
Earlier this month, the logistics giant had temporarily suspended B2C shipments to the United States exceeding $800 in value, effective April 21 and until further notice. The suspension was prompted by new U.S. customs regulations, which lowered the threshold for mandatory formal processing of shipments from $2,500 to $800.
“This change led to a significant increase in formal customs clearances, which our teams have been managing around the clock,” DHL stated at the time.
In a statement released Monday, DHL confirmed that recent adjustments to U.S. customs procedures now enable the company to resume accepting B2C shipments valued over $800 into the country. The resumption takes immediate effect.
