Anna Balan is the Head of CargoBooking, an instant air cargo quote and booking platform powered by Awery Aviation Software (Awery). She oversees a team of 17 people, works to encourage industrywide adoption of digital tools, and is responsible for the continued development of the platform, its rapid adoption, and its success.

How did you get into airfreight/logistics?

I’ve been working in the air cargo industry since 2018. Initially, I served as a Software Development Project Manager, then became a Product Manager, before taking on the role of Head of Cargo Booking in 2022.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t compare yourself to others; you are one of a kind on your own unique journey.

What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done?

A hike through high-mountain terrain up to Trolltunga, Norway, and I believe in striving to be a better version of myself, so my role model is future me.

What would your autobiography be called?

I’m definitely a night owl. All my best ideas come to me at night.

What’s the best and worst purchase you’ve ever made?

The best are all the books on my shelves and trips. The worst are tickets for flights I’ve ended up missing…

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My grandmother’s baking.
