Flights grounded at Birmingham Airport after reported bomb threat

Operations have been suspended at Birmingham Airport, as West Midlands police respond to reports of a suspicious vehicle.

The situation has been described as a “precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and staff,” West Midlands Police stated.

“West Midlands Police is currently dealing with an ongoing incident on-site. Airport operations are currently impacted,” a Birmingham Airport spokesperson confirmed.

This is the third instance to impact the airport this year. Holidaymakers were evacuated from Birmingham Airport in September as police investigated an incident. In April, Birmingham Airport temporarily suspended all flights after there was a security incident on an Aer Lingus plane.
