Gebrüder Weiss wins gold at the Austrian Export Prizes 2021

Gebrüder Weiss was awarded the Gold Export Prize for the category of Transport and Traffic by the Austrian Economic Chambers (Wirtschaftskammer Österreich, WKO) on June 29. The company was presented with this prestigious award during the Exporters’ Nite held at Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier. According to the jury, this logistics company managed to successfully expand its international network under particularly difficult circumstances.

“2020 marks our biggest expansion to date. That is why we are particularly honored to receive this award from the WKO. Despite the Corona crisis, Gebrüder Weiss still managed to open 24 new locations in five different countries and achieved this entirely remotely, without anyone on site to oversee the expansion. The locations are now fully integrated, are making a substantial contribution to our network and are starting to form an essential backbone for ensuring the success of our export-oriented customers,” says Lothar Thoma, managing director air and sea, Gebrüder Weiss.

Worldwide network expanded

Last year, Gebrüder Weiss consolidated its location structure in Germany by acquiring Ipsen Logistics and entered the markets in Poland, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. At present, 405 people work for this company at their new locations. Gebrüder Weiss has around 7,400 employees worldwide.
