WFS opens Copenhagen Airport pharma facility

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has officially opened its pharma facility at Copenhagen Airport, extending its footprint in the Danish capital.

The handling agent’s footprint in Copenhagen measures 13,900 sq m when it commenced operations in another 4,700 sq m freight centre.

The 1,500 sq m building provides handling in a temperature-controlled environment for 2-8C products covering acceptance, offload, pre-storage, build-up and storage for loose shipments and pre-built pallets.

Upgrading existing temperature control areas will also meet demand for pharma products requiring 15-25C.

Morten Mortensen, director of airline sales and route development at Copenhagen Airport says: “Pharmaceutical products are among the highest valued commodities to be carried by air freight and there are some very strict requirements to be met when it comes to temperature control, speed, stability and careful handling.”

Dan Parker, senior vice president commercial cargo – EMEAA at WFS says: “By increasing our commitment, we hope pharma volumes still being trucked to other airports will now see WFS is offering a more local, high quality and cost-efficient solution and this will also contribute to the continued growth of the airport.”
