Leipzig/Halle Airport posts 5.5% growth in 1H 2017

Cargo volumes at Germany’s second-largest freight hub Leipzig/Halle Airport continue to grow.

In the first six months of the year, the Eastern German gateway handled 540,984 tonnes, a 5.5 per cent increase on the same period in 2016.

Europe’s fifth-largest cargo airport after Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Heathrow, has now posted increases in tonnage for 13 years in succession.

Much of the growth has been aided by the expansion of DHL Express, which has its main European hub stationed at Leipzig/Halle.
