Lufthansa pilots extend strike action for another day

Lufthansa is warning of another day of disruption as the pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit announce another day of strike action on Friday 25 November.

The airline says long-haul flights from Frankfurt and Munich will operate as normal but a special schedule for short and medium-haul services is still being finalised.

Lufthansa says strike, which it says was called for “completely incomprehensible reasons”, will primarily hit passenger services, saying: “The third consecutive day of strikes will once more hurt business travellers, tourists and commuters. Lufthansa is therefore appealing to Vereinigung Cockpit once more to accept the offer of mediation and return to the bargaining table. It is the only place where a compromise can be reached.”

The freight division, Lufthansa Cargo says all freighter flights will operate as scheduled, while neither Austrian Airlines nor Eurowings services will be affected. It says cargo on short-haul flights will be rebooked on road feeder services where possible.
