Uzbekistan Airways has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, and used the inaugural flight to carry humanitarian aid.

The first 787 flight to Tashkent carried humanitarian aid to patients in hospitals, mother-child clinics, rehabilitation centres and orphanages.

Boeing and the airline partnered with AmeriCares to support a broad range of healthcare institutions across Uzbekistan, and was one of many humanitarian shipments the two companies have undertaken.

The flag carrier of Uzbekistan has a fleet of 34 aircraft and flies to more than 40 cities from its hub at Tashkent International Airport.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of sales, Middle East, Russia and Central Asia, Marty Bentrott says: “This delivery to Uzbekistan Airways is a remarkable moment in our partnership that has a great value for Boeing.”
