FedEx Express has safely transported three sea otters from Alaska to France, so the animals can set up home at the Océanopolis ocean discovery park in Brest.
The orphaned Pacific sea otters, called Atka, Kesuk and Pukig, were transported from the SeaLife Center in Seward, Alaska to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport via FedEx’s international hub in Memphis on a Boeing MD-11 Freighter.
From Paris, the otters flew from Paris to Brest-Bretagne Airport on an ASL Switzerland ATR-42 aircraft, before being driven to Océanopolis in one of the park’s trucks, escorted by a FedEx van with equipment and accompanying baggage.
The male otters travelled in specially-designed transport boxes, and were accompanied by Brett Long and Carrie Goertz from the Seward Alaska SeaLife Center and Gina Fisher from the Georgia Aquarium throughout their 13,000 kilometre journey.
